The Horn of Plenty mushroom grows in European deciduous forests. It is also known as the black trumpet or trumpet of the dead. Don’t let this latter name worry you – this is a perfectly comestible, truly delicious mushroom. The deadly-sounding name comes from the fact that it grows in late autumn, at around the time of All Souls’ Day.
Our Horn of Plenty mushrooms are dried immediately after harvest, for optimal storage.
Plantin Horn of Plenty mushrooms are easy to preserve and store, retaining all their flavours and aromas. To use them, simply rehydrate then add to your dishes for a touch of the Horn of Plenty’s delicious forest flavour! We also recommend that you keep the water used to rehydrate the mushrooms, for an excellent way of adding flavour to your recipes.
All the mushrooms we offer are dried immediately after harvest to bring you a high-quality product all year round.

The Horn of Plenty mushroom is ideal served with duck and veal, and also goes wonderfully with egg-based dishes (omelette, scrambled eggs and the like). The Horn of Plenty can also be used to make delicious forest pies and tarts, or add it to pâtés and terrines. Rehydrate in warm water for one hour, then rinse well.
